While excavating in the city center, Tony V finds an interesting item.  He knows he is supposed to turn over any finds to the authorities, but he is very interested in this.  It is a diary.  From a time before the war.  As he reads, Tony V is brought into the world of Pelly D.  A happy, self-absorbed teen who lived in the city before the war.  Tony V follows her life as she goes from care-free teen to lonely, disillusioned realist.  What is really going on in the city that Pelly D loved so much?
