Alexander's life was turning upside down.  One day he's a normal 15-year-old whose biggest worry is how to get a girl to notice him.  Then, his mother is fighting cancer and it doesn't look good.  His father decides to take his mother to a special treatment center which means that the children need to go stay with relatives.  While his sisters go elsewhere, Alexander is sent to his grandmother in New York.  Now, Kate is not what you would call a typical grandmother.  As a matter of fact, she's a journalist who is about to leave on assignment.  Alexander will go with her.  They are off to the Amazon to search for a creature that is said to live in the jungle.  Although few believe the Beast really exists, there are reports that several people have been killed by it recently.  Now Kate and a group from the International Geographic Magazine will be trying to find out if it exists or not.  Join Alexander as he learns about the fragile rain forest, the people who live there, and the dangers that outsiders bring.
