The first day of school is not always easy. There are so many new experiences that you will encounter. This is true for Khepri in Ancient Egypt as well. Khepri is the son of  a fisherman who is about to leave home to go to school in the city. He is going to learn to be a scribe. In Ancient Egypt, not everyone could read or write. Young boys were trained as scribes to fill the need. As Khepri and his father travel down the Nile River towards the city, the young boy thinks about what he is leaving behind.
