Trino was
playing a video game in the back room of Mr.
Epifaño’s store when it happened.
Rosca and his buddies beat up the store owner and
Rosca saw Trino watching. Now Trino is
running for his life, afraid that Rosca won’t
believe he’ll keep quiet about what he
saw. Looking for a place to hide, Trino slips
into the Book Basket, figuring Rosca would never
look for him in a bookstore. That’s how
he meets Lisana and things get both better and
worse in his life. You might be interested to
know that Mrs. Bertrand taught at Holy Cross in the
80s. She continues Trino’s story in
