Arthur wants a puppy and talks his parents into one but first he has to prove he is responsible enough to take care of one.  He decides the best way to do this is by taking care of other peoples pets.  Once he advertises the calls start coming in.  First it’s the pesky dog next door, then a bird, an ant farm, frogs and a snake.  His mother is fed up with animals everywhere and banishes the animals to the basement.  Perky the pesky dog from next door goes missing just as her owner returns from her trip.  They search everywhere and find her under Arthur’s bed with a litter of puppies.  Arthur is allowed to keep one of the puppies.  (Patty Shingleton, Hazard, KY)
