In 1968, Shirley Chisholm made history as the first African American woman elected to Congress. She was also the very first African American to run for president. Many people thought she should just stay out of politics.  To this she said "If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." Shirley is definitely someone you should know about.
