This book - They Came to Bagdad - describes events in the lives of numerous people all traveling to Bagdad at the same time. Victoria Jones is caught up in the middle. She met a nice looking man named Edward the day before he was to leave for Bagdad. She has strong feelings for Edward and decides on a whim to travel to Bagdad and surprise him. She got a job as a traveling companion with a Mrs. Hamilton Clipp. But now she is in Bagdad, her traveling companion job has ended, and she has very little money. (Read some of page 75).
