One day while in her father’s library, Sakura discovers a magical book called ‘The Clow’.  It is supposed to contain powerful cards called ‘Clow cards’ but they are nowhere to be found.  While she’s looking over the book she meets its protector, a little creature named Kero.  He explains to her that the cards escaped because he was napping on the job.  He then urges Sakura to help him capture all of the Clow cards because they do evil and destructive things when they are out of the book.  If she doesn’t help, her town will be unsafe.  So her name becomes “Cardcaptor Sakura” because she becomes the captor of the cards.  Her rich best friend, Tomoyo, helps her by creating cool costumes for each adventure and getting her 007-type gadgets.  But will Cardcaptor Sakura’s tendency to get distracted by her crush on her older brother’s friend, Yukito, get in the way of her ability to save her town from these cards that are wreaking havoc?  (Davinna Artibey, Center for International Studies, Denver Public Schools, CO)
