Amber Brown is having a rough time in life.  There's a new girl in school and her name is Kelly Green.  So now Amber is no longer the only one with a colorful name.  She wants to hate Kelly but they end up being good friends.  And then there's her father.  Her parents were divorced a couple of years ago and her dad moved to Paris.  She misses him terribly but now he's moving back.  She'll be able to see him all the time.  But, he wants to spend Thanksgiving with her.  Which would be great if she hadn't already promised her mother that she would go to Walla Walla with her.  What's Amber to do?
