Close Kin is the sequel to The Hollow Kingdom.  We are reintroduced to Emily, a human living in a goblin world, as she has grown into a young lady.  Seylin, one of her goblin friends, has grown to love Emily but she doens't return the feelings.  So Seylin leaves the goblin kingdom and Emily.  Seylin goes in search of the long-lost elves.  But when he finds them, he is shocked at their condition.  They are living in poverty and are near extinct.  Can anything save them?
