 This flip book is about A Chinese New Year.  Each page not only has a fun lift up flap but in child friendly language shows a glimpse of Chinese culture.  The book discusses some common activities relating to Chinese New Year.  It shows the red clothing, red envelopes and expresses that red represents good luck.  One page shows the difference in generations by showing the parents using chopsticks and the children using forks when eating.  Another page displays the fun parades that people attend.  This interactive book makes reading about Chinese New Year exciting.  The end of the book shows a diagram of the ancient Chinese calendar showing each year and what animal represents it.  The back cover also shows how to make a dragon puppet to create your own Chinese New Year Parade.  The step by step directions are easy to follow and perfect for primary grades.  (Carrie Benavides, teacher, LitlCarrie@msn.com)
