THE THREE LITTLE PIGS AND THE FOX
New York : Aladdin, 1997
IL K-3
ISBN 0613016661
This tale starts out a bit like the traditional fairy tale but there are differences. The third little pig is a girl named Hamlet. Hamlet's two older brothers go off and get caught by the tricky fox but Hamlet is smarter than her brothers. She tricks the fox into telling her where her brother are being kept. Hamlet rescues them and the story has a happy ending. I think you'll enjoy the hill language and the Great Smoky Mountains setting in this new version of an old favorite.
