Orphaned at eight, Matt has been getting into trouble and hanging out with the wrong people.  When his friend talks him into breaking into a store house, things go terribly wrong.  Sentenced to LEAF, an alternative to juvenile detention, Matt finds himself living in a strange little town with a strange woman as his foster mother.  Matt doesn't care.  He won't be here long.  He plans to run away at the first opportunity.  But this won't be easy.  The town won't let him go.  And the woman seems to have powers that prevent anyone from helping Matt.  It has something to do with Raven's Gate but anyone who tries to help Matt find out what is going on, ends up dead.  And now he only has one more chance to get out of the town before he is used by the townsfolk.
