ISLAND OF THE AUNTS
New York : Dutton Children's Books, 2000.
IL 3-6  RL 4.8
ISBN  0525464840
How many of you have an aunt?  That's terrific!  What kind of professions do your aunt's have?  (Take a few responses.)  Do any of your aunts tend mermaids?  How about very long worms or a little kraken or a seal or a boobrie that lays eggs so big that just one egg makes 72 omelets?  No???  One more question:  have any of your aunts ever been a kidnapper?

Of course, it's not as bad as it sounds.  The aunts, Etta, Coral and Myrtle are caretakers of an island and all these exotic creatures come to the island.  They like it so much that they never want to leave!  But the poor aunts are getting old and they need help.  Can they kidnap one of you like they did Minette and Fabio and Lambert?

Hmmm...
If you want to go on a hilarious adventure read ISLAND OF THE AUNTS by Eva Ibbotson.  (New Hampshire Great Stone Face Committee)
