Johnston, Robert D.

THE MAKING OF AMERICA : THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES FROM 1492 TO THE PRESENT
Washington, D.C. : National Geographic, 2002.
IL 3-6, RL 6.8
ISBN 0792269446
There has been much going on in this country since 1492.  I bet you've studied some of the major events in history class.  Some of you may think this is pretty dull stuff.  But Johnston's book brings history to life.  There is more to this book than just a timeline of US history.  We find out about interesting characters such as Abigail Adams and Joseph McCarthy.  And there are great illustrations throughout the book.  Even if you don't want to read this from cover to cover -- and you could -- I'm sure you will find interesting information between the covers.
Non fiction SUBJECTS:     United States -- History.
