Booktalk #1

Hi, I'm Jon Krakauer. In the Spring of 1996, I went on a mountaineering expedition to Mt. Everest to write an article for Outside Magazine. The expedition was led by Rob Hall from New Zealand. Rob was a very experienced climber. He had already led several successful expeditions to the summit of Mr. Everest. Everything was going just about to the plan Rob had set up when a storm hit the mountain. (Read p. 185 second paragraph). So, if you want to find out what happens to the expedition and to me, read INTO THIN AIR written by me, Jon Krakauer. (Cian O., 8th grade student, Rundlett Middle School, Concord, New Hampshire)

Booktalk #2

A nonfiction book about conquering Mount Everest. Jon Krakauer from Outside Magazine is asked to go to Everest Base camp and write an article. A mount climber enthusiast, he decides to ask to climb to the summit. Since climbing the mountain is expensive, Outside Magazine decides to try to get the money. He is put in an expedition with Rob Hall. Little did they know this would be the worst Everest season ever. To find out what happens on top in the thin air, read INTO THIN AIR. (Matt T., 8th grade student, Rundlett Middle School, Concord, New Hampshire)
