When Tom Tin's father is hauled away to debtor's prison, he knows he has to do something to help the family.  His sister has died and his mother is half crazy with grief.  But Tom's attempts to find a way to get his father released leads to his own arrest.  Mistaken for another boy, Tom is accused of murder and convicted.  Sentenced to seven years, Tom now finds himself bound by chains and living on a prison ship.  Tom hates the water and gets seasick very easily.  Not the way the son of a naval captain should be but there you have it.  Is there any way Tom can get out of this mess?
