Did you know that not too many years ago, hockey players didn't wear helmets?  And, believe it or not, goalies didn't wear masks.  Many coaches felt that any sort of protection would cut down on the player's ability to see the puck.  But, a courageous goalie by the name of Jacques Plante defied tradition and made a face mask for himself and became the first goalie in the NHL to wear a face mask.  Find out more about Plante and hockey.
