WRONGWAY APPLEBAUM
New York : Coward-McCann, 1984
IL 5-8
Applebaum is a fifth grader who is always picked last for baseball. This is particularly awful for Applebaum since his family is baseball crazy. His father spends times each night working with Applebaum to help him become a better player. Unfortunately, Applebaum has a learning disability which makes it hard for him to remember all the things he needs to do and makes him a bit uncoordinated. When a few classmates decide they want to start a team, they look for a sponsor. Applebaum asks his grandmother if she will sponsor them. She agrees and thus guarantees Applebaum a spot on the team. Will Applebaum improve enough to help the team or will he be a total goof-up?
