Cameron and his father spend their days panning for gold in Cariboo.  Along with many men in the mid-1800s, they believed that they could strike it rich.  When he wasn't working, Cameron liked to read his book about camels.  He dreamed that when they found enough gold, they would travel and see real camels.  What a great surprise when a local businessman brought camels to Cariboo!  He believed that the camels would be a big help to the mountain men.  They could carry very heavy loads and go for a long time without food or water.  But do they belong in  Canada?  Based on a true story, this is a tale of camels being camels.
