THE SEAL CHILDREN
London : Frances Lincoln, 2004.

Have you ever heard of a selkie?  In the United Kingdom and Ireland, selkies are the stuff of folklore.  They are half human and half seal and are usually women.  Folklore has it that when the selkies come on shore and shed their skins, they appear human.  If you can find the skin of a selkie and hide it, the selkie is kept prisoner on land and cannot return to the sea until the skin is found.  This is the story of a fisherman who falls in love with a beautiful selkie.  But he knows that one day she will return to sea.
