Set in the Polynesian Islands, this is a futuristic story about 14 year old Erica Magous, who is used to watching over her frail older sister. There's something peculiar about the family and Joanne, their oldest sister with whom they live while they are at school has had her son's fingers operated on. Complications arise when Sif, the older sister needs to get back to the island to recover from a lingering illness and falls in love shortly after. Erica's concerns are even more confused because she doesn't think Henry, a scientist connected with famous museum, can be trusted with the big secret.
