THE DREADFUL FUTURE OF BLOSSOM CULP
New York : Dell, 1994.
IL 5-8 RL 5.6
ISBN 04400421543
Time : 1914. Blossom is the daughter of a gypsy with second sight. She is quite a story teller. She involves herself in several escapades -- befriends Daisy Mae who attends school in the john, helps old man Leverette get back at Halloween pranksters, reads fortunes at Halloween haunted house and brings up her teacher's sordid past and still finds time to travel to modern time where she passes as a punk type in her 1914 beanie. The computer jock she descends upon is a lonely type so in a touching moment she kisses him and promises to hide her spelling bee pen somewhere in the china closet in the old Leverette house where he will live in 1984. Great humor and fast style, make this a good read.
