Way back in 1897, gold was discovered in the Klondike territory in Canada.  Many men and a few women took up the challenge to try to find their fortune.  Travel back then was not so easy.  Most of the journey was done on foot.  And there were no stores to stop and buy supplies so the travelers had to bring a year's supply of food with them!  It was quite an adventure.  And some were lucky enough to come away wealthy.  I know I could never have gone on this journey.  How about you?
