I thought this book was really good. A 17 year old boy named Allan was sent on a ship to hunt for whales. But the ship struck an iceberg. He was thrown over board onto the iceberg. For a couple of days, he was stuck on the iceberg with no food or water. Until he saw the ship. It was upside down floating on the water. It was frozen to the sides. Apparently there was an air bubble trapped inside the ship. So he broke his way in. Finally he got into the ship. There was food and clothing. He was able to make a fire. Then a couple of bears were digging into the ice for his shipmates. One of the bears got his way into the ship. Allan killed it with  all his might. He soon found a baby bear. It was the baby bears mother that he had killed. Allan had survived for 2 years in the ship, until he decided to do something about it.  (Austin G., student)
