What happens when a child's imagination runs wild? After Max was sent to his room for misbehaving he never thought that he would have the adventure of his life. Trees start growing, walls start disappearing, and his room doesn't look like his room anymore! He then sails on a boat to an island where "The Wild Things" are. Max not knowing what to do, does a magic trick to frighten the wild things. How he becomes King we will never know! Creating rumpus in the forest was the best time he ever had. Will Max stay on the island forever, or will he miss his home life? Does this dream ever end?  (Kirsten Johnson, KN-Johnson@wiu.edu, college student)

Booktalk #2

This book tells the story about Max, who one night plays around his house in his wolf costume and gets into trouble with his mother. Max is then sent to bed without supper and while in his room this magical forest is created through his imagination. There he meets the Wild Things; the weirdest looking monsters he'd ever seen! When they challenge him, he stares into their eyes to conquer them. But conquering them was only the beginning to Max’s adventure Where the Wild Things Are.
