The Weirdo is about a girl named Samantha Sanders and a boy named Charles " Chip" Clewt, who are trying to raise the hunting ban for bears in the Powhatan Swamp. Chip was severly burned in a plane crash one year earlier. Samantha is just an ordinary girl that lives in the middle of no where, wanting to live in a big city. Chip and Samantha meet while she is stuck on his roof after chasing her uncle's dog "Buck". Later on Chip and Sam become friends and then become more than friends while trying to find Tom Telford, save the bears, standing up to her, father, and finding the man that killed Alvin Howell. This year is a-lot more interesting than she thought it would be. Chip and Sam end up convincing The Wildlife Conservancy to expand the hunting ban of Powhatan Bears.  (Tayler Jae Smith, squigglebug@earhtlink.net, HCMS library)
