Morgan, a high school senior in New York, feels plain and boring next to her gorgeous, stylish best friend, Bree.  So when both Bree and Morgan develop a crushes on Cal, a handsome and mature senior who recently transferred to their small town school, Morgan doesn't tell Bree because she knows she doesn't stand a chance.

Cal openly practices witchcraft and starts introducing some students at school to it through coven meetings.  Morgan has strong and unusual reactions to the rituals they perform and slowly starts to develop magical powers, which catches Cal's attention.

Could it be that Morgan is a blood witch like Cal, meaning her ancestors were in one of the seven great clans?  But how could this be if her family doesn't seem to have any Wicca interest or abilities?
