When elevators first started to be used in buildings, they were not the automated ones we see today.  It took some skill to operate the elevators and men were hired as elevator operators.  Young Nathan lives in an apartment building and loves seeing the elevator man every day. Sometimes he is even allowed to use the controls.  But when the apartment gets a shiny new automated elevator, Nathan's friend is out of a job.  Or is he?
