Socrates lived long ago in ancient Greece.  He was a wise man who lived to ask questions.  He was sometimes seen as annoying because of the number of questions he asked but he was just genuinely curious about life.  He had many followers as he grew older who also became famous philosophers.  Why do we need to know about someone who lived so long ago?  To this day, we use Socrates dialogic techniques to study.  His influence is felt far and wide even now in the 21st century.
