Sammy Keyes is about to stumble into another mystery.  Not that she tries to.  She is simply saying hello to a friend who is going to be on a float in the Christmas parade.  The float is the Calendar Dog float and features the dogs in that year's town calendar.  Mrs. Landvogt owns the cover dog but she has been taken to the hospital with a broken leg.  Sammy is asked to stand in for her on the float.  Reluctantly, Sammy agrees.  All is going well.  The dog is behaving and the crowds are cheering.  The parade is almost over.  But then, three costumed figures approach the float and throw cats on board!  Cats on a dog float.  The two just don't mix.  Now dogs are running everywhere.  Sammy sees little Marique jump off the float but then loses her in the crowd. Sammy tries to find the dog but can't.  And now, Mrs. Landvogt is threatening to reveal Sammy's secrets unless the dog is returned.  What can Sammy do?  She tried to find the dog.  When the ransom note arrives, things get serious.  Now Sammy has to find the dog -- and soon.
