This is about a privileged “it crowd” of teens who attend elite, private schools in Manhattan.   Wealthy enough to buy however much designer clothing, alcohol and pot they want, they spend their time shopping, partying, and gossiping.  Each chapter opens with the latest posting from the Gossip Girl web site, where an anonymous person shares the low down on each member of this clique.  Currently the gossip is focused on Serena Van Der Woodsen, who just came home early from boarding school.  Blonde, slender, sweet, stylish, she is so perfect that “She was the girl every boy wants and every girl wants to be”.  Everyone wants to know why she’s back and what she’s been up to.  Vicious rumors are flying around about her.  Are they true?  (Davinna Artibey, Denver Center for International Studies, Denver Public Schools, CO)
