Meg : A Novel of Deep Terror by Steven Alten. New York : Bantam Books, 1998 Reviewed by Stevie B., Rundlett Middle School

Meg by Steven Alten is about a prehistoric shark know as Carcharodon Megalodon. This is a sixty foot version of what we know as a Great White Shark. The main character in this book is Jonas Taylor, a forty-two-year-old paleontologist. Taylor is called to a boat around the Marianna Trench area. He is called to dive into the trench and inspect an Unmanned Nautical Informational Submersible. Simply put, a machine used to study the ocean floor. Taylor is called because in earlier years he used to navigate a simpler version of the AG 2, a mini-sub used to dive to extremely deep depths. When he dives down he has a run in with the Megalodon, which he didn't even know was still living. To give you an idea of what this book is like read page 3 last paragraph. This is only a sample of the great power that you see from the Megalodon in this story. If you want to see what happens to Jonas Taylor and the great predator, read Meg.
