      Jukes, Harry Potter books (the Dursleys are negative examples and Ron's
      parents, the Weasleys are more positive), When They Fight, Kit's Wilderness
      (Askew's father). There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom (Bradley's father),
      the Talking Eggs (evil mother), Kids should Know That Parents Aren't Perfect
      by Eloise Greenfield, Crazy Lady by Conley-both positive and negative
      (alcoholic mother who is fiercely protective of her retarded son), The Dumb
      Bunnies by Denim, The Stupids by Allard, Silent to the Bone by E.L.
      Konigsburg (a complex look at parents), James and the Giant Peach
       

      Positive:  December and Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting,  Ma Dear's Aprons, Just
      Dad and Me by Mercer Mayer, I Love You the Purplest, and many, many more.
